Movember – Men’s Health Month Testicles
HAVE we got your attention? Good, let’s talk about testicular cancer.
- It’s the number one cancer among young guys
- More than 70,000 men are diagnosed with it each year
- Over half a million men have had it and are living with and beyond it
- When it’s caught early, it can usually be cured
Who's at risk?
- Anyone who has nuts can get testicular cancer
You may be high risk if:
- Yout nuts didn't drop at birth
- You are related to someone who's had it
- You've had it before
- You come from Africa or Asia
Knowing your nuts is Key:
- Most of us don't know how to check ourselves
- No two nuts are exactly the same
- Get familiar with your nuts
- Get to know what's your normal
- Have a feel every month
- If something doesn't feel right, get in touch with your GP Surgery
How do I get to know my nuts?
- The best time is in the shower or bath
- Gently roll one nut between your thumb and fingers
- Then do the other side if something hurts, changes or doesn’t feel right, or you notice any lumps, speak to your GP Surgery or book an online consultation.
What happens next?
Someone at your GP surgery will want to talk about what you’ve noticed
- They will probably ask about any higher risk factors
- They will probably want to do an examination
- They will make it as careful and easy for your as they can Remember, in more than 9 out of 10 cases, testicular cancer is cured by treatment.
