October 19, 2023Smartphones and Computers Support Offer: Age UK
Whether accessing your medical records, NHS advice, booking a Covid jab or GP appointment, shopping, banking, checking government benefits or contacting family and friends, we increasingly depend on doing things online.
For many older people, this can be uncharted territory. They may have never used a computer or smartphone, and age often brings a reluctance to change.
At Age UK, they recognise this and their Digital Champions programme aims to build IT confidence amongst over 60’s.
Age UK provide free “drop-in” sessions at community centres across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland where our staff and volunteers help clients start their online journey.
They will also visit housebound people, aiming to provide them with an important connection with friends, family and important services.
It’s a free service, and anyone can visit the sessions or request a home visit if necessary.
Age UK also welcome volunteers. No sophisticated IT knowledge is needed, just a basic knowledge of common smartphone and computer functions, and a willingness to help people.
