Our Projects & Community Groups
Here at Long Lane Surgery we are always looking for ways we can help our patients improve their mental and physical health and support the local community.
We have recently started 2 new projects, the Community Allotment and the Woodland Project, to help members of the local community come together to be more active, learn new things and make new friends. We are going to be launching more projects and groups soon, so if these projects aren't of interest to you, there will be more to choose from soon.
Both projects will start in mid September and will run as 6 week course, one day a week.
Community Allotment
We have taken on a large allotment in Broomleys where our gardening club can expand and grow more produce. In addition to this, we are joining with another Allotment group in Swannington which has excellent access for people with disabilities.
Patients will be able to ask to be referred to these projects if they are keen to exercise more, be more active, want to learn more about growing their own food or need a safe place to have some time to themselves.
Woodland Project
This project is aimed at people that wish to exercise more, need to improve their fitness and exercise tolerance levels away from traditional forms of exercise. It is also aimed at people that need a peaceful and uplifting environment where they can learn new skills and take in all that a woodland has to offer.
Patients will be able to ask to be referred to this project if they are keen to exercise more, be more active, or need a safe place to have some time to themselves.
